Ville and Peppe played together in Uusikaupunki in mid '90s. Something happened but not much. Later both relocated to Helsinki. Ville had some songs and in summer 2003 the guys started toying with them and put a net ad for a drummer. Bartsi enrolled as the only candidate. First 3-piece practice was held in a garage in August 2003.
The band messed around and tried to get their act together. Somehow the combo was named Streetcar after the Tennesee Williams play 'A Streetcar named desire'. Moody. Debut gig: 16.1.2004. Went okay.
The band tried additional members but that didn't work out. Then Ville met J-P Cavonius while exchanging some guitar pedals and the band ended up being in the studio two times in summer of 2004 under the guiding hand of Mr C. First session didn't really work out, the second (impromptu live session) was more succesful. The website opened in June and changed to www.abandcalledstreetcar.net in October 2004.
Mr. Cavonius had introduced his bandmate Mara to Ville and the pair had held some acostic jams. The Ville, the clever schemer, brought Mara to Streetcar's 1 year celebration rehearsal and in drunken haze Mara agreed to join the band. Wonderful. Two rehearsals later the 4-piece band debuted in Factory.
In January 2005 the band finally released Random acts of kindness, a two song debut recording, though the two songs ('Uuaa' and 'Sound of love', from the second summer session) had been available from the website for some time. Streetcar's live demo created some confusion but no-one seemed to partically hate it. Got some radio play and some more ok gigs happened.
The band even managed to take some promo pics and another studio finally happened in early October. The result Random acts of love with 2 songs ('Custom clothes' and 'Galvatron') is actually rather good. Now we'll see what will happen... Good things, hopefully.
:: History (the veeery long version)
Official bios are just offical bios.
Band members, some influences, "the band wants to mix thing A and thing B and create music of their own without style limitations" etc. etc. blahblahblah. As if. Now to the real shit. This
is the official history of Streetcar as it happens, truthfully rendered. Biased? Of course it is. (What do you expect?) But if you want to know more:
